Last Blast of Sela Tunnel’s Escape Tube Conducted by DG Border Roads Through Video Conferencing

On completion, Sela Tunnel will be the longest bi-lane road tunnel in the world at an altitude above 13,000 feet. This unique tunnel constructed using the latest New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM), is much below the snow line allowing all weather travel without the challenges of snow clearance. The Sela Tunnel will prove to be a boon for the people of Tawang as it will reduce travel time and ensure speedier movement across the Sela Pass. It will play a crucial role in the development of not just Arunachal Pradesh, but the entire North-East.In case of natural calamities and adverse weather, it can prove to be a vital link for evacuation of personnel.

Lighthouses Could Become Tourism Spots in India in the Near Future

India might soon be getting world-class facilities at its lighthouses. According to reports, the Marine Aids to Navigation Bill, 2021 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. The bill was passed by the Lower House of the Parliament, and it aims to bring heritage lighthouses in the country to the forefront. The bill repels the archaic Lighthouse Act, 1927, which currently controls the lighthouses in India.

Indian Railways to Roll Out Over 800 New ‘Economy’ AC 3-Tier Coaches Soon

The Indian Railways will soon roll out 806 new air-conditioned three-tier “economy” coaches this fiscal to offer the “cheapest and best AC travel in the world,” news agency PTI reported on Tuesday, quoting railway officials. Economical in nature, these coaches will have a fare ranging between that of AC three-tier coaches and non-AC sleeper class coaches, the officials further said.

Tejas SMART Coach Signals Shift from Preventive to Predictive Maintenance

Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Shri Sumit Thakur stated that, “With the use of Tejas SMART Coach, Indian Railways aims to move to predictive maintenance instead of preventive maintenance. The introduction of this modern Tejas Sleeper type train for long distance journey, is another paradigm shift by Indian Railways for enhancing the travel experience for the passengers.” He also mentioned that Tejas type Sleeper coaches are manufactured at Modern Coach Factory (MCF) which will gradually replace the premium long-distance trains over Indian Railways network.

Eight New Routes Launched to Boost Regional Aerial Connectivity

Shri JyotiradityaScindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation along with Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh and Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare on Friday virtually flagged off 8 new routes bolstering the aerial connectivity from Madhya Pradesh to Maharashtra & Gujarat. Shri Rakesh Singh, Member of Parliament, Jabalpur, Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation along with other senior officials of the ministry were also present during the flag off.
