HAL Develops Indigenous Optical Fuel-Sensing and Data-Acquisition Systems for Tejas Mk2

The developments were disclosed in HAL’s latest annual report, which identifies them among technologies designed and developed from the ground up for the LCA Mk2 platform. While neither system attracts the attention normally associated with radar, electronic warfare or weapons, they represent the kind of underlying aircraft technology that determines reliability, safety, maintainability and operational availability over a fighter’s service life.

The new Quantum Product Series was unveiled during C-DOT’s 43rd Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi on 31 August 2026. Developed by the telecom research and development organisation under the Department of Telecommunications, the portfolio covers systems intended for commercial telecommunications networks, enterprises, optical infrastructure, wireless communications and highly sensitive strategic and defence applications.

Shunya is being developed as a six-passenger-plus-one-pilot eVTOL aircraft, giving it a significantly different operating concept from conventional helicopters and small fixed-wing aircraft. Electric vertical take-off and landing technology allows an aircraft to rise and land vertically without requiring a conventional runway, while an efficient wing-supported cruise phase can provide greater range and energy efficiency once the aircraft transitions into forward flight.

OrbitAID Targets Q1 2027 for India’s First End-to-End Satellite Life-Extension and Refuelling Demonstration

OrbitAID disclosed the updated mission timeline on 25 August 2026, saying that two spacecraft — AayulSAT-2A, serving as the chaser, and AayulSAT-2B, serving as the target — will be launched together for the demonstration. The company intends to validate the complete sequence required for servicing an operational spacecraft rather than testing individual rendezvous or docking functions in isolation.
