Central Govt to Amend Wildlife Protection Act

The amended Act will give powers to the Centre to declare areas which it deemed fit to declare them as conservation reserves. These powers were wrested with the states till now. It will also allow the states to constitute the standing committee of the State Board for Wildlife (SBWL) on the lines of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL), which is the topmost body deciding project proposals affecting tiger reserves and sanctuaries.

With the birth of first IVF calf of a Buffalo breed namely Banni in the country, India’s OPU – IVF work has reached to next level. This first IVF Banni calf is born out of 6 Banni IVF pregnancies established at the doorsteps of a farmer, Vinay . L. Wala of Sushila Agro farms, located at Dhanej in Somnath district of Gujarat.

High-Speed Expendable Aerial Target ABHYAS Successfully Flight-Tested by DRDO

ABHYAS – the High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) was successfully flight-tested today by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Bay of Bengal in Odisha. The vehicle can be used as an aerial target for evaluation of various missile systems. The performance of the target aircraft was monitored through telemetry and various tracking sensors including Radars and Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS).

Kidney Stone Formation to Gene Marking: 5 Experiments Shortlisted for ISRO Mission; MoUs in Place

From how kidney stones are formed in fruit flies to study of gene markers, from heat sink functioning in microgravity to crystallisation, an expert committee set up by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has shortlisted five out of the 28 proposals it received from various institutions to send as payloads to conduct experiments in space, as part of the Gaganyaan uncrewed missions.
