Investment Proposal of INR. 5281.94 Crore for 850 MW Ratle Hydro Power Project on River Chenab Approved

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for the investment of Rs.5281.94 crore for 850 MW Ratle Hydro Electric (HE) Project located on river Chenab, in Kishtwar district of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, by a new Joint Venture Company (JVC) to be incorporated between National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Ltd (JKSPDC) with equity contribution of 51% and 49% respectively.

The 700-megawatt pressurized heavy water reactor of the Kakrapar Atomic Power Station, located in the western state of Gujarat, is the first of 16 planned units that will help balance the grid against growing intermittent renewable generation, according to K.N. Vyas, India’s atomic energy secretary.

IMD Launches Sophisticated Doppler Weather Radars in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

Union earth sciences minister, Harsh Vardhan, on the occasion of the 146th foundation day of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday, inaugurated two Doppler Weather Radars, one each at Mukteshwar in Uttarakhand and Kufri in Himachal Pradesh, which will provide valuable support to farmers and disaster managers in both the states, and to the pilgrims undertaking the pilgrimage to Kailash Manasarovar and Char Dham yatra.

PM to Flag Off 8 Trains Facilitating Seamless Rail Connectivity to Statue of Unity

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will flag off eight trains connecting different regions of the country to Kevadiya on 17th January, 2021 at 11 AM via video conferencing. These trains will facilitate seamless connectivity to the Statue of Unity. Prime Minister will also inaugurate several other projects related to the Railways sector in Gujarat during the event. Chief Minister of Gujarat and Union Railways Minister will be present on the occasion.
