Sail Training Ship INS Sudarshini, was deployed to the Gulf as part of Indian Navy’s endeavour to enhance maritime cooperation with the friendly navies in the region. During the month-long deployment, the ship made port calls at Muscat, Dubai and Bandar Abbas and had professional interactions with Royal Oman Navy (RNO), UAE Navy and Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) Navy.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) tested the missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. It has a range of 150 to 500 kilometre, depending on payload, and can be launched from a mobile launcher.

INS Sudarshini is presently on its culmination phase of deployment to Gulf region as part of Indian Navy’s efforts towards familiarising friendly foreign navies on various facets of operations and training on board sail training platforms and extending ‘Bridges of Friendship’.

INS Khukri, the first of the indigenously built Missile Corvettes, was decommissioned after 32 years of glorious service on Thursday, 23 Dec 2021. The ship solemn ceremony was held at Visakhapatnam wherein the national flag, naval ensign, and the decommissioning pennant were lowered at sunset in the presence of Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command the Chief Guest for the ceremony and some serving and retired former commanding officers of the ship.`

The Indian Army, today launched a contemporary messaging application named, ASIGMA (Army Secure IndiGeneous Messaging Application) which is a new generation, state of the art, web based application developed entirely in-house by team of officers of the Corps of Signals of the Army. 

India on Wednesday conducted maiden test of next generation short-range ballistic missile Pralay from from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, it can strike target at range up to 500 km and carry up to 1 ton warhead, sources said.

In a major boost to the country’s air defence capabilities, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is deploying the first squadron of the S-400 air defence missile system in the Punjab sector.

“Indian Army is going to induct 7 lakh indigenously developed ‘Nipun’ anti-personal mines which carry a potent mix of RDX,” an Army officer said. He said the mine has been developed by an Indian firm in partnership with the DRDO.
