ICAR Institutions Enter Global Rankings, Mark Milestone for India’s Agricultural Education

For the first time, two ICAR institutions have secured positions in this global ranking. The ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly, has been placed in the 51–100 band in Veterinary Science, becoming the only Indian institution among the top 100 globally in this category. Meanwhile, the ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, has been ranked in the 151–200 band in Agriculture & Forestry, placing it among leading institutions worldwide.

NeGD Holds Advanced Anti-Drone Training for CISF Officers at DIAT Pune

The training focused on building operational capability in counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), an area that is gaining urgency as drone-based threats become more complex and widespread. During the programme, CISF officers received hands-on training in detecting, tracking, assessing and neutralising hostile drones. The sessions were led by domain experts from DIAT and DRDO, with DIAT Vice Chancellor Dr. B H V S Narayana Murthy inaugurating the programme and underlining the growing importance of counter-drone capabilities in safeguarding strategic assets.

India Posts Record Foodgrain and Horticulture Output Despite Shrinking Farm Sizes

The government said total foodgrain production at the all-India level rose from 265.0 million tonnes in 2013–14 to 357.7 million tonnes in 2024–25. Horticulture production also increased significantly, climbing from 277.4 million tonnes in 2013–14 to 369.1 million tonnes in 2024–25, according to the third advance estimates. The figures suggest that despite smaller average farm sizes, improvements in technology, crop planning and policy support have helped sustain growth in agricultural output.

New Highway to Open Doors for Buddha’s Sacred Places in Shravasti

The new highway project, planned over a length of 101.51 km, is expected to address a long-standing infrastructure gap that has limited Shravasti’s tourism potential despite its global religious significance. According to the official release, the improved corridor will help cut travel time between Barabanki and Bahraich by nearly half, reducing the journey from around 150 minutes to 75 minutes, while also raising average travel speeds from 40 kmph to 80 kmph.
