Over INR 1.54 Trillion Income Tax Refunds Issued this Fiscal So Far
The income tax department announced on Thursday that it has paid refunds totalling over Rs 1.54 lakh crore to over 1.59 million taxpayers this fiscal year.

Forest Survey Report 2021 Released; Increase of 2,261 Sq Km in the Total Forest and Tree Cover of the Country in Last Two Years
Sharing the findings, the Minister informed that the total forest and tree cover of the country is 80.9 million hectare which is 24.62 percent of the geographical area of the country. As compared to the assessment of 2019, there is an increase of 2,261 sq km in the total forest and tree cover of the country.

Textile Sector Exports Increase by 41% in April- December 2021 as Compared to Last Year
Even in comparison to the pre-pandemic year, 2019-20, textile sector exports (Textiles & Apparel including Handicrafts) climbed by 14.6% from April to December 2021 as compared to April to December 2019. Textiles saw a 31% increase in exports, Cotton Yarn/Fabrics/Made-ups, Handloom items, etc. saw a 43% increase, and Jute products saw a 33% increase from April to December 2021, compared to April to December 2019.
