India – United States to Take Wconomic Relationship to the Next High Level

India and the United States held the 12th Ministerial-level meeting of the India-United States Trade Policy Forum (TPF) in New Delhi on November 23, 2021 with a view to advancing the goal, to “develop an ambitious, shared vision for the future of the trade relationship”, as announced by PM Mr. Modi and President Mr. Biden at their September 24, 2021 meeting.

Union Health Ministry releases National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) Phase II Findings

The main objective of successive rounds of the NFHS is to provide reliableand comparable data relating to health and family welfare and other emerging issues. The NFHS-5 survey work has been conducted in around 6.1 lakh samplehouseholds from 707 districts (as on March, 2017) of the country; covering724,115 women and 101,839 men to provide disaggregated estimates up to districtlevel. All the results of NFHS-5 are available in the public domain on the Ministry website (www.mohfw.gov.in).

Triveni Signs A Business Agreement with GEAE Technology USA in its Defence Business

Under the agreement, GEAE Technology USA has licensed Triveni to locally manufacture the LM2500 gas turbine’s base frame, acoustic enclosure, and lubricating oil skid and supply other source-controlled accessories that go into the LM 2500 gas turbine enclosure assembly. The LM2500 is the chosen propulsion gas turbine by the Indian Navy for many of its surface combatant vessels. The LM2500 gas turbine, with power ranging from 25 MW to 35 MW, are best in class naval propulsion gas turbines and are in service with over 40 navies globally.

BEL Inks Airbus Deal for C295

Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), on Monday said it recently signed a contract with Airbus Defence and Space for manufacture and supply of radar warning receiver and missile approach warning system for the C295 aircraft.

India, Sri Lanka and Maldives Coast guards Conduct Exercise

The Indian Coast Guard vessels, ICGS Vajra and ICGS Apoorva, and the Sri Lanka Coast Guard’s SLCGS Suraksha are in the Maldives for the exercise. This year marks 30 years since the first edition of the exercise. The trilateral exercise aims to strengthen friendship, enhance mutual operational capabilities, exercise interoperability and build cooperation between the coast guards of the Maldives, India and Sri Lanka, officials said.

Launch of National Scheme Soon for Rehabilitation of Beggars

While a 10-city pilot project is already in progress to create grassroot-level outreach, the ministry of social justice and empowerment’s comprehensive scheme on rehab for beggars is part of the “Support for Marginalised Individual Livelihood and Enterprise Scheme” that will also include a separate scheme for welfare of transgender persons.
