The Indian Coast Guard has added a major infrastructure boost to its eastern seaboard operations with the inauguration of the new OTM Administrative Complex at Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 13 in Puducherry. The facility was inaugurated by Director General Indian Coast Guard, DG Paramesh Sivamani, on April 25, 2026.
The new complex is designed to improve the Coast Guard’s operational efficiency, administrative coordination and response capability in the region. According to the Ministry of Defence, the project reflects the broader vision of building a “Modern Force, Modern Infrastructure,” with upgraded facilities to support the growing maritime security requirements along India’s eastern coastline.
A key feature of the newly inaugurated facility is its advanced Operations Centre, which will function alongside the Maritime Rescue Sub Centre, Puducherry. Together, these units will serve as an integrated command, control and coordination hub, enabling faster and more effective responses to maritime emergencies, security challenges and rescue requirements.
Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 13 is responsible for Puducherry and Central Tamil Nadu. It oversees a maritime area extending over 140 nautical miles and plays an important role in protecting life and property at sea, preserving the marine environment and safeguarding India’s maritime interests in the region.
The inauguration of the OTM Administrative Complex is therefore not just an infrastructure development, but a strategic strengthening of India’s coastal security grid. With better coordination facilities and improved operational infrastructure, the Coast Guard’s Puducherry headquarters will be better positioned to handle maritime surveillance, rescue coordination, environmental protection and emergency response duties along a sensitive stretch of the eastern seaboard.
