Vikram Solar Bags 300-MW Solar Project in Rajasthan from NTPC

New Delhi: Green energy provider, Vikram Solar, on Wednesday said it has bagged a 300-megawatt (MW) solar plant project for Rs 1,750 crore from National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) under the CPSU-II scheme.

The solar plant would be spread across 1,500 acres in Rajasthan and is slated to be completed in 18 months, the firm said in a press release.

“NTPC has always focused towards supporting the green energy transition in India and we are proud to be a part of NTPC’s recent effort towards solar growth. I am certain that this 300-MW plant will see successful execution within an agreed time frame and our partnership will continue to support India in providing ‘Power for All’,” said Saibaba Vutukuri, chief executive officer, Vikram Solar.

The project, which was tendered under the domestic content requirement category of the CPSU, was secured in a reverse bidding auction.

Venkat Muvvala, head of EPC and O&M, Vikram Solar, said that previously, the firm has executed 50-MW solar plant project in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh and 130-MW solar project in Bhadla, Rajasthan for NTPC.

Vikram Solar has handled large utility-scale projects such as 200 MW for APGENCO in Andhra Pradesh, 130 MW for NTPC at Bhadla-Rajasthan, 80 MW for GIPCL at Charanka- Gujarat, and is handling on-going projects of 225 MW for NTPC at Bilhaur, UP.
