Parliament Passes the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020

The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020 with provisions to remove commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potatoes from the list of essential commodities was passed by Rajya Sabha today. Earlier, the bill was introduced by the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Shri Danve Raosaheb Dadarao in the Lok Sabha on 14th September, 2020 to replace ordinances promulgated on 5th June 2020. The bill was passed by Lok Sabha on 15th September, 2020.

India to Have Second Rocket Launch Port at Kulasekarapattinam, Tamilnadu

As per the request of Department of Space, Government of Tamil Nadu has identified 961.66.90 hectares in Thoothukudi district. Land survey is completed for 431.87.74 hectares and preliminary notification has been issued. Survey work for balance area is in advance stage.At present, one Launch Pad is being proposed at the second launch port at Kulasekarapattinam,Tamil Nadu.

BSNL 4G Network Should Be ‘Made in India’: DoT

Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has said that it doesn’t want foreign companies manufacturing the 4G equipment and network for BSNL. The last 4G tender of BSNL got cancelled because of the border tensions between India and China. Now DoT is recommending that BSNL’s 4G network should be built by local companies.
