India Set to Achieve 450 GW Renewable Energy Installed Capacity by 2030: Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) in partnership with FICCI, organised a series of events, from October 6th-8th, 2021 during the Climate and Biodiversity Week at Expo 2020 Dubai. The events covered the themes of India’s Renewable Energy Achievements and Ambitions, Emerging Areas and Opportunities for Renewable Energy in India, and also focussed events anchored by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA).

Railways Successfully Operated Two Long Haul Freight Trains ‘Trishul’ and ‘Garuda’ for the First Time Over South Central Railway

 Trishul is SCR’s first long haul comprising of three freight trains, i.e., 177 wagons. This train was started on 07.10.2021 from Kondapalli station of Vijayawada division to Khurda division of East Coast Railway. SCR followed it up with running of yet another similar one named Garuda on 08.10.2021 from Raichur of Guntakal division to Manuguru of Secunderabad division. In both the cases the long haul trains comprised of empty open wagons for loading of coal meant for predominantly thermal power stations.

Kanpur Metro have a Special Inverter with Third Rail DC Traction System for Energy Conservation

Kanpur Metro’s trains will have an energy efficiency of about 40-45% which means at the expenditure of every 1000 units, up to 450 units can be regenerated through breaking and be used again with the help of ‘Regenerative Breaking Technology’. No other Metro Project in India, that is running on the Third Rail DC Traction System has such type of arrangement to conserve energy.

With India’s Soft Loan, Nepal Gets New Strategic Transmission Line – Neighborhood First” policy

With the Indian soft loan, Nepal has constructed a 220 KV Double Circuit Koshi Corridor power transmission in eastern Nepal and handed over to Nepal Electricity Authority, a semi-autonomous body to oversee the power generation and distribution in Nepal. With the construction of the new strategic transmission line, Nepal can evacuate power up to 2000 mw, said officials, which will also ease power evacuation and distribution in eastern Nepal.
