Nrsc Maps 1,300 Islands With 34 Key Attributes

The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (Isro) National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) has identified and mapped more than 1,300 islands and submitted the report to the government, which is expected to use the information for holistic planning and development, including putting in place infrastructure for strategic reasons.

India and Russia Agree to Deepen Cooperation at the UN Security Council

India and Russia agreed to increase cooperation at the United Nations Security Council on Monday following extensive talks on issues facing the global body. In February, Russia is set to assume the presidency of the UN Security Council.  According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two parties undertook bilateral talks on UN-related matters at a meeting in Delhi.

BharatPe’s PoS Business Grows to $4 Billion Annualised Transaction Value

In the last 12 months, fintech firm BharatPe has increased the reach of its PoS (point of sale) business (BharatSwipe) by 25 times to over 250 cities. The company has deployed over 1.25 lakh BharatSwipe machines across offline retailers since launching its POS business in the second half of 2020. BharatPe claims it has done the fastest-ever scale-up on POS business in India, achieving this record in little over a year and a half.

India-Central Asia Virtual Summit

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi hosted the first India-Central Asia Summit in virtual format on 27 January 2022,  which was attended by Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Republic of Uzbekistan. This first India-Central Asia coincided with the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Central Asian countries.
