According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visiting delegates are also scheduled to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their stay in India. The two-day meeting is expected to focus on global and regional issues of common interest, with discussions likely to reflect the priorities of emerging economies at a time of shifting geopolitical alignments, economic uncertainty and continuing debate over the future of multilateral institutions.

The meeting focused on exploring new ideas to strengthen India-Costa Rica ties, with both sides discussing ways to make the relationship more practical and future-oriented. Margherita said in a social media post that the discussions covered support for Indian businesses in Costa Rica, capacity building and Quick Impact Projects, reflecting a shared commitment to building a stronger and more meaningful bilateral partnership.

This emerging form of outreach can best be described as “civilisational diplomacy” — the projection of an ancient and continuously evolving cultural ecosystem through spirituality, philosophy, wellness traditions, pluralism, historical memory, diaspora networks, democratic coexistence, and cultural confidence accumulated over thousands of years.

During the visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and call on King Harald V and Queen Sonja. He will also address the India–Norway Business and Research Summit along with the Norwegian Prime Minister, placing trade, technology, research and investment at the centre of the visit.

India and the UAE have already built one of New Delhi’s most important partnerships in the Gulf. Over the past few years, the relationship has expanded beyond traditional trade and energy ties into infrastructure, technology, defence, logistics and strategic connectivity. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has given the two countries a wider platform to work together on long-term economic and security priorities.

The fear is not merely economic dependence. It is strategic vulnerability. In recent years, geopolitical tensions have repeatedly demonstrated how supply chains can become instruments of coercion. Countries dependent on a single supplier for critical technologies or industrial inputs risk economic disruption, industrial paralysis, price manipulation, and national-security vulnerabilities during periods of conflict or diplomatic confrontation.
