Equipment Manufactured Under ‘Make-In-India’ Programme

During the last two financial years i.e. from 2018-19 to 2019-2020 and the current financial year 2020-21( till December 2020), the Government has accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) to 112 Defence proposals, worth Rs. 1,99,860 Crore approximately, under the various categories of Capital Acquisition, which promotes domestic manufacturing as per the Defence Acquisition/Procurement Procedure.

With a focus on supporting Specialisation courses being conducted at NMA, Sri Lanka Navy model of indigenously developed Varunastra heavy weight torpedo, working model of Light Weight Torpedo, Underwater Telephone, Gas Turbine cut Model, model of HMS Trincomalee and Bathy thermograph were delivered in Sri Lanka in 2020 and were operationalised with joint efforts of Indian Navy, Sri Lankan Navy and the OEMs from India.

Indian Naval Ship Shardul in Mauritius to Enhance Military Ties

As part of enhancing military cooperation with the friendly nations, Indian Naval Ship Shardul, a ship of the First Training Squadron of the Indian Navy, visited Port Louis in Mauritius, the force said. The ship arrived at Port Louis in Mauritius on March 10 and remained there till March 13. Indian Navy said that the visit is part of an overseas deployment to Southern Indian Ocean nations.

Defence Ministry to Take Up Big Deals for Armed Drones, Submarines in April

Multi-billion deals for 30 armed drones from the U.S. and six advanced submarines under Project-75I are likely to be taken by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) in April for approval, a government official said. “All the procedures have been completed and the deals are likely to be taken up at the next meeting of the DAC for approval,” the official said. “There is no DAC in March, the next one is scheduled in April.”
