The field-scale trial was carried out on NH-716, Chennai–Tirupati Package-I, by the CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), Oriental Structural Engineers Private Limited (OSEPL) and Ooms Polymer Modified Bitumen Pvt. Ltd. The Ministry of Science and Technology announced the achievement on September 2, 2026.
The development gives India a particularly prominent position within the Stuttgart-based family-owned company. India is now LAPP’s second-largest market globally, while the Bhopal operation has surpassed the group’s other manufacturing sites in scale.
Located in the Bommasandra Industrial Area, the new facility has an initial footprint of about 20,000 square feet and is equipped with Surface Mount Technology, Through-Hole Technology and box-build assembly lines. It has been designed to manufacture electronics for sectors where product reliability, process control and stringent quality standards are particularly important.
The expanded facility is expected to become fully operational in 2030. Once completed, it will manufacture enzymes used across a wide range of industries, including biofuels, household-care products and food and beverages. Novonesis says the investment will substantially increase its production capacity as global demand for biological solutions continues to grow.
