Dr Jitendra Singh Inaugurates Doppler Weather Radar & Indigenous GPS Based Pilot Sonde at IMD, Jammu

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today inaugurated the latest upgraded state-of-the-art Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) & Indigenous GPS based Pilot Sonde at Indian Meteorological Office in Jammu, and said, like other parts of the country, Jammu has become a part of India’s giant scientific leaps under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

IISc, ISRO Develop Device for Bio Experiments in Space

In a study published in Acta Astronautica, the team has shown how the device can be used to activate and track the growth of a bacterium called Sporosarcina pasteurii over several days with minimal human involvement.
“Understanding how such microbes behave in extreme environments could provide valuable insights for human space missions such as ‘Gaganyaan’, India’s first crewed spacecraft set to be launched in 2022,” IISc said in a statement shared with TOI.

India, Singapore Conduct Major Naval EXercise Near South China Sea

Guided-missile destroyer INS Ranvijay, with a ship-borne helicopter, anti-submarine warfare corvette INS Kiltan and guided-missile corvette INS Kora, along with a P-8I long-range maritime patrol aircraft, took part in the ‘SIMBEX’ exercise on the southern fringes of the South China Sea from September 2 to 4.

S Jaishankar Meets Croatian PM; Discusses Bilateral Ties

External affairs minister S Jaishankar on 3rd September 21 met Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenkovic and discussed opportunities to further expand bilateral cooperation, including in pharma, digital and infrastructure.
Jaishankar thanked Plenkovic for receiving him at Zagreb and said that they also discussed “pressing global issues”, including the situation in Afghanistan.
