Ultra-Sensitive, Easy to Use Sensor can Detect Arsenic in Food & Water in 15 Minutes

Dr. Vanish Kumar, an Inspire Faculty Fellow, has developed an ultra-sensitive, easy-to-use sensor for detecting arsenic contamination in water and food samples in 15 minutes. The developed sensor is highly sensitive, selective, involves a single step, and is applicable for various water and food samples. The developed sensor can be easily operated by a common man by just correlating the colour change (on sensor surface) with the standard labels.

Dholavira, the Harappan City in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat Inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List

India’s nomination of Dholavira, the Harappan City in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat has been inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. India submitted the nomination dossier for Dholavira: A Harappan City to the World Heritage Centre in January, 2020. The site was on the UNESCO’s tentative list since 2014. Dholavira: a Harappan city, is one of the very few well preserved urban settlements in South Asia dating from the 3rd to mid-2nd millennium BCE.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Som Parkash in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha reviewed the progress made in the country on account of the ‘Make in India’ movement that began in 2014. He highlighted that the development of a robust manufacturing sector continues to be a key priority of the Indian Government. HAL Ready to Export LCA-Tejas, Mark-2 Getting Ready

LCA-Tejas Mark 2, the second generation fighter prototypes are underway in association with the DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). “We expect the first prototype to be ready by next year-end. It will be lengthier and is under design stage with structural and systems plans in place. It will take one year for the ground runs and the then flight trails will start to be completed by 2026-27,” he said.

Along with the help of satellites and drones, Indian security forces are also creating a network of surveillance cameras and sensors to keep a close watch on the Chinese Army along the Line of Actual Control.
