India has delivered emergency relief materials to Afghanistan to support communities affected by flooding in the mountainous province of Nuristan. The assistance includes essential food supplies and family tents intended to provide immediate support to displaced and vulnerable households.
The relief consignment was handed over to the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, which is responsible for coordinating its distribution among affected communities. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India stands with the Afghan people during this difficult period.
Family tents can provide temporary shelter to households whose homes have been damaged or rendered unsafe, while food supplies address urgent needs during the initial phase of disaster response. The assistance is focused on immediate humanitarian requirements in flood-affected areas of Nuristan.
The delivery reflects India’s continuing humanitarian engagement with the people of Afghanistan. By routing the supplies through the country’s disaster-management authority, the initiative supports organised relief distribution while maintaining India’s people-centred approach to Afghanistan.
The assistance also underlines the role of humanitarian cooperation in India–Afghanistan relations. Continued support during natural disasters can help meet urgent needs while reinforcing longstanding civilisational and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
