Indian enterprise-software company Ramco Systems has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Safran Helicopter Engines to develop direct digital integration between Safran’s engine data and Ramco Aviation Software, aiming to reduce manual maintenance-data entry and improve the accuracy of information used by helicopter operators.
The agreement was announced by Chennai-based Ramco Systems on 3 September 2026. Under the collaboration, engine information generated by Safran following shop visits will be transferred directly into the Maintenance Information System within Ramco Aviation Software.
The companies plan to automate the ingestion of important engine information including engine configuration, operating hours and usage metrics, as well as maintenance events. At present, transferring such information between an engine manufacturer and an operator’s maintenance platform can involve manual data entry and reconciliation, creating additional work and increasing the possibility of inconsistencies.
Ramco and Safran will also develop common processes for a reliable and continuous two-way exchange of data. The companies will jointly evaluate suitable data-exchange formats and establish operational processes designed to maintain compatibility between the two digital environments.
For helicopter operators, the principal benefit should be faster and more reliable initialisation of engine information inside their maintenance systems. Better structured data can also support airworthiness management, maintenance planning and fleet availability, while reducing the administrative workload placed on maintenance personnel.
The collaboration is expected eventually to qualify Ramco Aviation Software for Safran Helicopter Engines’ EngineLife® Connect label, which identifies connectivity solutions compatible with Safran’s engine-support products and digital services.
Ramco said the connection could also provide Safran with richer engine-maintenance information while giving operators direct access to OEM-generated engine data within their existing maintenance environment.
The partnership is significant because modern helicopter maintenance increasingly depends on the continuous movement of accurate configuration, utilisation and maintenance information between engine manufacturers, aircraft operators and MRO organisations. Digitising that exchange can reduce duplicated work and create a more consistent technical record throughout an engine’s operational life.
Ramco Aviation Software currently supports more than 24,000 users and over 4,000 aircraft globally, according to the company, with customers spanning airlines, helicopter operators, MRO organisations, defence users and emerging urban-air-mobility operators.
The Ramco-Safran agreement therefore represents more than a conventional software partnership. It is part of a broader transition towards digitally connected aerospace maintenance, where information can move directly between the original equipment manufacturer and the systems used to manage aircraft availability and airworthiness.
For Ramco Systems, the agreement also strengthens the position of an Indian-developed aviation enterprise platform within the global helicopter-maintenance ecosystem, connecting its software more closely with one of the world’s largest manufacturers of helicopter turboshaft engines.
