JAISALMER: Preparations are underway for the International Army Scout Master Competition to be held in Jaisalmer from July 24 to August 16.
The event will witness participation of mechanised infantry scouts teams of eight countries including China, Belarus, Zimbabwe, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and host India.
Russia is the founding member of this format of international army games.
For the first time, China will take part in the event.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh, army chief and several VIPs are expected to attend the meet.
The event, which is going to be held in five stages, will test the marksmanship, navigation skills, endurance and teamwork of the participating teams under an international panel of judges, experts and arbiters.
The main aim of this competition is to enhance international military-to-military and technical co-operation between the countries participating in the competition.
Sources said infiltration and ambush exercises would be organised in Khuri Sand Dunes, 50km from Jaisalmer, from August 6.
Later, scout specialist BMP obstacle course and trail obstacle course will be organised on August 8 and again on August 12 and 13.
The fourth stage, which will be held at Pokhran field firing range, small arms firing competition will be held. In the fifth stage, scout trail obstacle will be held on August 14. In all, 32 types of adventurous and bravery events, competitions and sports will be held.
