India has earned international recognition in the world of artisanal cheese, securing multiple accolades at the Mundial do Queijo do Brasil 2026, a prominent global competition celebrating cheese and dairy excellence.

The highest distinction, Super Gold, was awarded to Eleftheria Gulmarg, a Brie-style cheese. Gold medals went to Yak Churpi-Soft from Nordic Farm in Leh, Ladakh, and Eleftheria Brunost, a whey-based cheese. Eleftheria Kaali Miri, inspired by the Belper Knolle style, earned a Silver medal.
The Prime Minister also praised the contributions of cheesemakers Mausam Narang and Thenlay Nurboo, noting that such accomplishments underscore the growing global appreciation for India’s artisanal dairy products.
Sharing his thoughts, he remarked that India’s success at the competition reflects the rising stature of the country’s dairy craftsmanship on the international stage.
