According to data shared in the Lok Sabha, coconut cultivation worldwide spans nearly 12,390 thousand hectares, of which India alone accounts for around 2,165.20 thousand hectares. The country produces approximately 21,373.62 million coconuts every year, with an average productivity of about 9,871 nuts per hectare. The figures underline the crop’s major role in India’s agricultural economy and rural livelihoods.

According to the latest figures placed in Parliament, the platform had, as of 28 February 2026, registered 1.80 crore farmers, 2.72 lakh traders, and 4,724 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).

Under this structure, drivers can become members and owners of the cooperative society, gain representation in its Board of Management, and participate in profit sharing.

Government officials have pointed out that India’s export performance is taking place in a challenging international environment marked by slowing economic growth in some developed economies, disruptions in global trade routes, and continuing geopolitical tensions in key regions. Despite these headwinds, India has managed to maintain a stable trajectory in its export sector by diversifying markets, strengthening trade partnerships, and expanding its manufacturing and services capabilities.

The milestone was officially achieved on 11 March 2026, when total production from these categories of mines crossed 200 MT, including about 194.17 MT from captive and commercial mines and 6.06 MT from other mines.
