Power Consumption Grows 7.8% in First Half of November

In the first half of November this year, India’s power consumption increased 7.8% to 50.15 billion units (BU), indicating an improvement in economic activity, according to government data. According to data from the power ministry, power consumption in the country was registered at 46.52 BU between November 1-15 last year.

The number of connections more than doubled in the last four years from just 34 crore in March 2016, coinciding with the country’s Digital India programme, which was launched in 2015.
