On Friday, CIL, a state-owned company, announced that it had signed its first ever power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) for the sale of 100 megawatts of solar power.
The solar power project spans across 5 acres of land and has been constructed at a cost of Rs 5.16 crore. Under this project, a total of 3,176 solar panels of Indian origin have been set up to generate 1 MW of solar energy. The plant would generate at least 15 lakh units of electricity annually or about 1.25 lakh units per month, amounting to approximate saving of Rs 1 crore annually to the government exchequer.
The bridge has been a 70-year-old demand of the residents of the Sakol village. “BRO provided yet another vital link between Punjab state and Jammu Union Territory by constructing a 160 feet long double deck bailey bridge over Tarnah River on Chadwal-Sanjimore-Hariyachak-Paharpur-Simbal stretch,” the Army in Press Release on Friday said.

This is P&G’s only the fifth manufacturing site globally to commission in-house solar plant. Spread over 16,000 square meters and comprising nearly 3,000 panels, the in-house solar plant has a capacity of one Megawatt clean energy production and will reduce the company’s carbon footprint by an estimated 1,030 tons annually.
