India Submits 2031–35 Climate Targets to UN, Pledges 47% Cut in GDP Emission Intensity by 2035

The submission marks India’s third Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement. NDCs are the national climate action plans that countries submit under the global climate framework, outlining how they intend to reduce emissions, adapt to climate impacts and contribute to the long-term goal of limiting global warming. India’s earlier NDCs were submitted in 2015 and updated in 2022 for the 2030 target cycle.

Delhi Turns To Mechanised Drain-cleaning In Fresh Yamuna Push

The move fits into a wider official framework that has been building over the past year. In July 2025, the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti said nine Yamuna-related sewerage projects in Delhi, creating 1,268 MLD of treatment capacity at a cost of ₹1,951 crore, had been completed under the Namami Gange Programme. The same Lok Sabha reply said ₹140 crore had been allocated jointly by NMCG and the Delhi government for Yamuna cleaning since January 2025, of which ₹108.31 crore had been utilised at that stage.

According to the ministry, the FCU verifies questionable claims through authorised sources and then publishes corrected information on its social media platforms for wider dissemination, including in border districts. During Operation Sindoor, the unit actively flagged misinformation circulating online, while the ministry also ordered the blocking of more than 1,400 digital media URLs carrying what it described as false, misleading, anti-India and communally sensitive content, much of it traced to Pakistan-based social media accounts and material inciting hostility against the Indian Armed Forces.
