Anti Covid Drug 2-DG Launched by Defence Minister and Health Minister

Minister of Defence, Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan today jointly launched the new COVID drug 2-DG at DRDO Bhawan. The anti-COVID-19 therapeutic application of the drug 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) has been developed by Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a lab of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), along with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL), Hyderabad.

Indian Navy Team Repairs Two Major Oxygen Plants in Andhra Pradesh

Teams from Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam achieved a major breakthrough in repairing two major Oxygen Plants at Nellore and Shri Kalahasthi bringing a major boost to the Oxygen Supply in the State of Andhra Pradesh during the ongoing Oxygen crisis. Based on a request from the State Administration, Eastern Naval Command airlifted the teams of specialists from Naval Dockyard by naval Dornier Aircraft from Visakhapatnam.

Indian Air Force and Indian Navy continued to work round the clock to provide oxygen and other medical supplies to the Civil Administration to tackle the current COVID-19 situation in the country. As on Thursday May 12, 2021, the aircraft of Indian Air Force airlifted 403 oxygen containers of 6856 tonnes capacity along with other equipment of 163 tonnes capacity, in 634 sorties from different parts of the country.

Indian Intelligence Services Explore COVID-19 Second Wave Origin

Indian intelligence services are investigating reports and chasing ‘leads’ that points to the second wave of Covid-19 in the country being possibly engineered by hostile elements. Some agent reports received by Indian spy agencies suggest new versions of the virus might have been released by hostile elements in crowded urban clusters in Mumbai and Delhi in March.

DRDO to Use AI Algorithm for Detection of Covid-19

To help suspicious patients diagnose Covid-19 faster, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) have launched an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm designed to help detect Covid-19 using the chest X-ray According to its developers, a tool called Atman AI used to detect chest X-rays shows an accuracy of 96.73%.
