India Begins National Red List Assessment of 1,211 Bird Species to Strengthen Wildlife Conservation
The bird assessment forms part of India’s National Red List of Flora, Fauna and Fungi – Vision 2025–2030, launched at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in October 2025. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh introduced the national initiative to strengthen India’s biodiversity conservation framework and contribute to international conservation commitments.
