Earlier on Wednesday, the official account of Chinar Corps – Indian Army tweeted a video of jawans carrying a pregnant woman on a stretcher through heavy snow in the Kashmir Valley. The video went viral within no time and PM Modi retweeted the video and hailed the army personnel for helping the woman.

The concept of Integrated Battle Groups (IBG) is being given shape in the newly-raised 17 Corps to meet the current challenges in the northern borders, Eastern Command chief Lt Gen Anil Chauhan said on Wednesday. The 17 Corps carried out ‘Him-Vijay’, a mega exercise at a height of around 15,000 ft in Arunachal Pradesh in October last year.

He said the decision was taken in view of an improvement in the situation in the insurgency-hit states. “As far as the security situation in the insurgency-affected states is concerned, it is rather stable and all parameters concerning violence have come down drastically,” Lt General Chauhan told reporters here after a wreath-laying ceremony on Army Day at Fort William, the Eastern Command headquarter.

The Jan. 13 transfer order accessed by IANS stated, “The officers are hereby transferred from the Department of Defence to the newly created Department of Military Affairs with immediate effect.” A total of 13 deputy secretaries, 25 under secretaries and 22 section officers were transferred to the DMA.

CISF, with about 1.6 lakh personnel, was first tasked with the security of airports in the aftermath of the 1999 hijack of an Indian Airlines aircraft. The federal force now guards 61 of the operational about 100 civil airports across the country.

A top Indian Navy officer speaking on condition of anonymity explained that “the IAC-1 which is under construction will enter the waters like a ship in 2021 before it gets inducted in the navy as an aircraft carrier. The efforts are going on in the right direction. The first batch of the crew is ready and the second and the third batch of the crew have been identified and awaiting final orders.”
