India plans to introduce digital passports later this year as part of its efforts to improve security and make international travel smoother. The e-passports come with embedded microchips and futuristic technology, including AI (artificial intelligence), that will make immigration clearance a breeze at border posts worldwide.

Indian Army to Get BDL-Manufactured Konkurs-M Anti-Tank Guided Missiles from Hyderabad Company

BDL and the Indian Army signed a contract worth Rs 3,131.82 crore for manufacture and supply of the missiles. Konkurs-M is a second generation, mechanized infantry anti-tank guided missile, to destroy armored vehicles equipped with explosive reactive armour. The missile can be launched either from BMP-II tank or from ground launcher. It has a range between 75 to 4,000 metre with a flight time of 19 seconds.

Developed by the Indian Army, the original ARMAAN app is used for information decimation, messaging, military engineering services related complaints, army rest house related services, and many others. It also has a feature that allows army members to send messages to the office of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Exports Rise by 23.69% to $34 Billion in Jan

According to provisional data from the commerce ministry, the country’s exports increased by 23.69% to US$ 34.06 billion in January, owing to strong performances in the engineering, petroleum, and gems and jewellery segments, despite the trade deficit widening to US$ 17.94 billion.

Sri Lanka to Buy Fuel from Indian Oil to Tide Over Energy Crisis

Govt Proposes to Replace Existing SEZ Law With New Legislation

The administration proposed on Tuesday to repeal the existing law governing special economic zones (SEZs) and replace it with a new law that would allow states to collaborate on the “Development of Enterprise and Service Hubs.”  The current SEZ Act was passed in 2006 with the goal of establishing export hubs and increasing manufacturing in the country. However, with the enforcement of a minimal alternate tax and the adoption of a sunset clause for the removal of tax benefits, these zones began to lose their lustre.  In purposes of customs regulations, these zones are treated as foreign entities.
