India Opens Four Trade Routes with Bhutan

The Nagarkata port in West Bengal has been notified as a “permanent” land customs station, with no restriction on commodity movement. Earlier it was a “seasonal” station, allowing only trade of certain commodities like oranges, ginger, cardamom.

India, USA Sign MoU on Intellectual Property Cooperation

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade(DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 2nd December 2020, in the field of Intellectual Property Cooperation with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Department of Commerce of the United States of America.

NSE Launches its First Agricultural Commodity Futures Contract

India’s major stock exchange, National Stock Exchange of India Ltd (NSE), launched the first Crude Degummed Soybean Oil (CDSO Futures) agricultural commodity futures contract on December 1, 2020. The CDSO Futures agreement is a monthly expiry futures contract with a 10 metric tonne (MT) trading lot size and a Kandla price basis.

Researchers Devise New Wastewater Recycling System

Researchers at the Centre for Sustainable Technologies (CST), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), have developed a decentralised wastewater treatment and recycling system at a primary school, situated in the remote village of Berambadi in Karnataka, which has helped save 180,000 litres of water in a year. The system has, over the past year, enabled the reuse of wastewater and reduced dependence on freshwater resources. The study has been carried out in collaboration with researchers in the UK.
