Atomgrid, a full-stack speciality chemicals platform, has launched a new research and development (R&D) centre in Bengaluru to capitalise on the global “China-plus-one” shift in supply chains. As international customers increasingly look beyond China for sourcing, especially in speciality chemicals, the move positions Atomgrid to meet rising demand for diversified and reliable alternatives.
The facility currently employs 15 scientists and researchers, with plans to grow the team to 25 within a year, underscoring the company’s commitment to strengthening its innovation capabilities. The centre will focus on route scouting, process development, and technology transfer to enable commercial-scale manufacturing, combining research with practical execution.
Designed to develop proprietary processes for active ingredients and patented formulations, the R&D hub will cater to both regulated and non-regulated global markets. Its focus will be on delivering high-purity, cost-efficient chemical solutions aligned with evolving industry needs.
The launch follows Atomgrid’s Rs. 65.38 crore (US$ 7 million) funding round, which is aimed at expanding its global presence and boosting research capabilities. This initiative highlights India’s growing importance as a preferred hub for manufacturing and innovation in the global chemicals sector, driven by increasing demand for resilient and diversified supply chains.
