SAEL Industries has begun operations at a 600 MW solar power plant in Kurnool, significantly expanding India’s renewable energy capacity. The project spans more than 2,400 acres and consists of two 300 MW units developed through the company’s subsidiaries. It will supply clean electricity directly to the national grid under a 25-year power purchase agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), ensuring long-term revenue stability.
The facility uses over 12 lakh advanced TOPCon bifacial solar modules manufactured at SAEL’s plants in Punjab and Rajasthan, reflecting strong integration of domestic manufacturing with large-scale renewable deployment.
Once fully operational, the plant is expected to cut carbon emissions by around 11 lakh tonnes annually, supporting India’s climate and energy transition goals. The commissioning follows SAEL’s earlier milestone of operationalising a 1 GWp project in Khavda, taking its total installed capacity beyond 2.5 GWp.
Despite facing challenging terrain and weather conditions in Kurnool, the company completed the project through focused execution and planning. The development further strengthens Andhra Pradesh as a key hub for renewable energy investments, while reinforcing SAEL’s growing presence in the solar power sector.
