Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reached Tashkent, Uzbekistan today to attend a key meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and participate in bilateral engagements with the Uzbekistan government.
Mr Singh will represent India at the meeting of Council of Heads of Government of SCO in Tashkent tomorrow. The leaders participating in the meeting are expected to focus their discussions on multilateral economic cooperation in the SCO region. This will be the third Council of Heads of Government meeting after India became a member of the SCO.
The Defence Minister will also have bilateral engagements tomorrow and on Saturday. He will hold a meeting with Major General Kurbanov Bakhodir Nizamovich, Minister of Defence of Uzbekistan, to discuss issues of bilateral defence cooperation.
