Youth Empowerment Vision Takes Shape in Uttarakhand With Free Coaching for 11,000 Students

The BJP-led Uttarakhand government has launched a new scheme to provide free online coaching for competitive examinations to students studying in government and government-aided colleges and state universities, with 11,000 students expected to benefit in the first phase.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the Mukhyamantri Yuva Bhavishya Nirman Yojana at Mukhya Sevak Sadan in Dehradun, saying that talented students should not be prevented from pursuing competitive examinations because of financial constraints or lack of access to quality coaching.

The scheme is aimed particularly at students from mountainous and remote regions of Uttarakhand, where access to conventional coaching centres can be difficult. Through online instruction, the state government intends to make preparation for competitive examinations more accessible to students regardless of where they live.

Dhami said success in competitive examinations requires not only hard work but also proper guidance, strategy and regular practice. He said students from economically weaker families and remote areas often struggle to obtain such support because of the cost of private coaching and limited educational infrastructure.

The Chief Minister said the BJP-led state government wants to ensure that financial hardship or lack of resources does not become a barrier for capable young people seeking government jobs and other career opportunities.

According to Dhami, more than 34,000 young people have secured government jobs in Uttarakhand over the past five years. He said the government is simultaneously seeking greater participation from young people in shaping the state’s future policies.

As part of this effort, discussions are being held with more than 2.5 lakh students and young people to gather their views, ideas and suggestions on development, employment and other issues affecting Uttarakhand’s youth.

Dhami also announced that the government will constitute a separate Yuva Aayog, or Youth Commission, to focus on issues related to employment, aspirations and opportunities for young people.

He said the objective is to ensure that the youth of Uttarakhand are not treated merely as beneficiaries of government schemes but become active participants in determining the state’s policy direction and development priorities.

During the launch programme, Dhami interacted with students and discussed their preparation for competitive examinations as well as their future career plans. He encouraged them to remain confident, work consistently and make full use of the opportunities being created through the new coaching initiative.

Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said the state is also expanding digital facilities across higher educational institutions. He said Uttarakhand’s e-library system now provides access to nearly 20 lakh books, giving students a wider pool of learning material without requiring physical access to major libraries.

Rawat also announced that 50% of positions in student union elections will be reserved for female students from this year, a move intended to increase women’s participation in student leadership and campus decision-making.

The Mukhyamantri Yuva Bhavishya Nirman Yojana adds to the BJP-led government’s broader effort to expand access to digital education, competitive-exam preparation and employment opportunities across Uttarakhand.

By taking coaching online, the state is attempting to reduce one of the disadvantages faced by students living far from major education centres such as Dehradun and other urban areas.

The first phase covering 11,000 students will provide an initial test of the programme’s reach and effectiveness. If implemented successfully, the scheme could give students from remote districts greater access to structured preparation for competitive examinations without requiring them to relocate or bear the high cost of private coaching.
