During the meeting, Doval conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE leadership. According to the Indian Embassy in the UAE, both sides discussed measures to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, along with the regional situation and other matters of common concern.

Abu Dhabi, April 26: National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi during an official visit, with the talks focusing on strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, regional security developments and issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Doval conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE leadership. According to the Indian Embassy in the UAE, both sides discussed measures to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, along with the regional situation and other matters of common concern.

The UAE’s official news agency WAM reported that President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received Doval and asked him to convey his greetings to Prime Minister Modi, along with wishes for India’s continued development and prosperity. Doval, in turn, conveyed PM Modi’s best wishes for the UAE’s progress and prosperity.

The meeting comes at a sensitive moment for West Asia, where regional conflicts, maritime security concerns and energy-market risks continue to affect the wider strategic environment. WAM said the discussions addressed developments in the Middle East and their serious implications for regional and international security, stability and global energy security.

Energy security formed an important backdrop to the talks. The UAE is one of India’s key energy partners in the Gulf, and stability in the region remains crucial for India’s oil supplies, trade routes, diaspora security and wider economic interests. DD News also reported that the discussions covered energy stability and the implications of recent regional developments.

Senior Emirati officials were present at the meeting, including Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security.

The engagement also underlines the growing tempo of high-level India-UAE diplomacy. DD News noted that this was the second major high-level interaction between the two countries within a month, following External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s earlier meeting with the UAE President.

The India-UAE relationship has expanded rapidly in recent years across trade, investment, energy, security, technology, logistics and people-to-people ties. Doval’s meeting with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed signals that both countries are keeping strategic coordination active at the highest levels as the Gulf region faces a complex security environment.
