India–Netherlands Ties Moving Towards Stronger Strategic Partnership: Dr Jitendra Singh

New Delhi, April 24, 2026: India and the Netherlands are steadily moving towards a stronger strategic partnership, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said while attending the National Day celebrations of the Netherlands, known as King’s Day, at the Dutch Embassy in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. Dr Singh attended the event as the chief guest and described the relationship between the two countries as enduring, steady and increasingly relevant in the present global environment. Speaking at the event, Dr Singh said that India and the Netherlands share a long-standing relationship that has continued to grow despite shifting geopolitical circumstances. He noted that the partnership between the two nations is built on mutual trust, practical cooperation and shared interests across important sectors. The Minister highlighted that bilateral cooperation has been particularly strong in areas such as water management, agriculture and high-technology sectors. He also pointed to growing engagement in emerging fields such as semiconductors and innovation-led industries, reflecting the changing nature of India–Netherlands collaboration. Dr Singh also referred warmly to the Dutch multinational company Philips, observing that the company has more consumers in India than in the Netherlands. His remark underlined the deep commercial and consumer-level connect between the two countries, beyond formal diplomatic engagement. The Minister said that India and the Netherlands enjoy a high degree of ease in working together, which has helped expand economic engagement and bilateral investments. He added that people-to-people ties also remain an important pillar of the relationship, with the Indian diaspora in the Netherlands contributing to stronger links between the two societies. Netherlands Ambassador to India Marisa Gerards said that the two countries are working towards a deeper strategic partnership, especially in areas such as climate resilience, sustainable agriculture and global supply chains. She emphasised that the partnership combines innovation, technology and shared values to address major global challenges. The event was attended by members of the diplomatic community and other distinguished guests. Dr Singh expressed confidence that India–Netherlands relations will continue to strengthen further across multiple sectors of mutual interest.
