Geological Survey of India Training Institute Launches its Dedicated 24×7 Website

Geological Survey of India Training Institute (GSITI),Hydrabad,  the training and capacity building wing of the  Geological Survey of India (GSI), under the Ministry of Mines  has recently launched its 24×7 website(https://training.gsiti.gsi.gov.in/)  for round-the-clock accessibility of various online training courses on Earth Sciences to its stakeholders. This is in tune with the Digital India Campaign of the Government of India.

146% Rise in Applications for ‘Study in India’ Programme

The number of applicants and online exam takers for the Study in India (SII) scholarships increased by 145.6% and 651.9%, respectively, providing a huge boost to the initiative, which had been struggling to gain traction for the previous three years. The number of nations represented in the programme increased considerably as well, from 12 in 2020-21 to 136 in 2021-22.

Army Starts Schools for Gujjar and Bakkarwal Community Children in Jammu And Kashmir’s Ramban

With an aim to impart quality education among children of the Gujjar and Bakarwal community, the Army has started three schools in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district. Children of the community suffer severely from lack of education infrastructure while ‘deras’ migrate to their summer abodes, an official spokesman said. The community heads approached the Army seeking assistance for education of children, he said.

DRDO & AICTE Launch Regular M. Tech. Program in Defence Technology

A regular M.Tech. Program in Defence Technology has been launched by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to impart necessary theoretical & experimental knowledge, skill and aptitude in various defence technology areas. Secretary Department of Defence R&D & Chairman DRDODr G Satheesh Reddy and Chairman AICTE Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhelaunched the program during a virtual event organised by AICTE, New Delhi on July 08, 2021. The program will motivate the aspiring engineers to start their career in defence technology.

Ministry of Education Releases the Guidelines for Parent Participation in Home-Based Learning During School Closure and Beyond

Union Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ in his tweet said that in this ‘new normal’ of the pandemic, considering parents’ role as pivotal to children’s growth and learning, these Guidelines aim to provide information on the ‘why’, ‘what’, and ‘how-to’ of participation and engagement in supporting children during the school closure, irrespective of their literacy levels. Home is the first school, and parents are the first teachers, he added.

ISRO Offers Two New Free Online Courses for Students and Professionals, Participants to Get Certificates

ISRO is now accepting applications for two new online courses on GIS Technology and Earth Observation for which interested professionals and students can register on the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) website. Recently, the institute also offered a free online course on machine learning to deep learning for students. While the ISRO free online course on GIS Technology will be conducted from 21 June to 2 July 2021, the course on Earth Observation for Carbon Cycle Studies will be conducted from 21 June to 25 June 2021.
