Indian Railways to Get First Aluminium Coaches by Early 2022

Indian Railways is likely to get its first batch of aluminium bodied coaches by February 2022. In a technological shift for railways, the Modern Coach Factory (MCF) in Raebareli is looking to manufacture aluminium coaches. The first set of 3 coaches for Kolkata Metro are expected to be ready by early next year, a railway official told TOI. Eventually, Indian Railways hopes to get aluminium coaches for Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express style premium trains.

Godrej & Boyce Partners with Indian Railways to Develop Universal Coach Assembly Station

Godrej & Boyce has announced that its business Godrej Tooling has partnered with the Indian Railways to design and develop the universal coach assembly station as an indigenous solution for coach assembly fabrication in the brand new Marathwada Railcoach Factory in Latur, Maharashtra. The station has cut the time it takes to assemble a coach from 24 hours to 12 hours.

India to Call Bids for Battery Storage System in Ladakh

The plan involves building 10GW of large green energy capacity in the region, comprising solar and wind projects, and using these large battery units to store the electricity generated to supply to the rest of the country through a transmission link, power, and new and renewable energy minister Raj Kumar Singh said in an interview.
