Since the National Animal Disease Control Programme was launched in 2019, more than 147.16 crore doses of FMD vaccine have been administered across the country, benefiting around 8.04 crore farmers. Reported FMD outbreaks have fallen from 132 in 2019 to 40 in 2025, while Brucellosis outbreaks declined from 22 to 15 during the same period.
A major component of the partnership is India’s commitment to train 500 Mauritian civil servants over five years through the National Centre for Good Governance. The programme was agreed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mauritius in 2025, and the first batch is already undergoing training in Mussoorie.

Jaishankar and Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov co-chaired the 27th India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) in Moscow on August 24, 2026. The commission is the principal institutional mechanism overseeing the expanding economic relationship between the two countries.
The meeting came as Jaishankar co-chaired the 27th India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. The commission serves as one of the principal institutional mechanisms for expanding economic relations between the two countries and covers sectors ranging from trade and investment to science, technology and industrial cooperation.
The industrial relationship is also moving beyond the production of aircraft structures. Tata Advanced Systems and Lockheed Martin broke ground in Bengaluru in December 2025 on a new defence Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility for the C-130 family. The facility is intended initially to strengthen in-country support for the Indian Air Force’s Super Hercules fleet, with the potential to support other C-130 operators in the region and internationally.
Bilateral trade between the two countries increased by more than 36% to $406.78 million in 2025-26, compared with $299 million in the previous financial year. The momentum has continued into the current fiscal year, with trade during April-June 2026 recording 63.25% year-on-year growth.
Goyal will also hold bilateral discussions with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Akazawa Ryosei and interact with senior members of the Japanese government and Parliament. The programme will then move to Nagoya, one of Japan’s major industrial centres, where the Indian delegation will engage with the Central Japan Economic Federation, the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aichi Prefecture officials and companies from the automotive and steel sectors.
Doval is scheduled to arrive in Beijing on Monday, with the 25th round of Special Representatives talks expected to take place on Tuesday. Both officials serve as their respective countries’ designated Special Representatives for negotiations on the India-China boundary question, a mechanism established in 2003 to address the long-running dispute and manage recurring tensions along the frontier.
The two countries also agreed to increase exchanges between their armed forces through more joint exercises, professional military training and capacity-building programmes. These measures are intended to improve interoperability while creating regular opportunities for both militaries to share operational experience and best practices.
The two sides are also expected to explore opportunities in cleaner and sustainable fuels, including biofuels and other emerging energy solutions, as Mauritius works to diversify its energy mix and reduce dependence on conventional fossil fuels over the longer term.
