While responding to a request for medical evacuation from “JMSDF Sazanami”, the Navy launched a Sea King helicopter from INS Shikra and landed on the Japanese ship at sea, situated around 235 km off Mumbai. The injured crew member was evacuated to Naval Air Enclave at Santacruz. Later, the Japanese Consulate shifted him to a local hospital.

KONKAN-19 will involve Gunnery Shoots, Manoeuvres, Cross Deck Flying, ASW Screening and Air Defence exercise. The thrust of the KONKAN this year is on Anti-Air warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare, Flying Operations and Seamanship Evolutions of varying complexities.

“Tribal youths are naturally strong and physically fit. They have all the qualities to become ideal soldiers. To make them compatible with the requirements of the Army, we have decided to open Army schools in tribal areas. This would ensure that a large number of tribal youths become eligible to join the Army,” the chief minister said.
