First Container Vessel Carrying Export Cargo from India to Bangladesh

A first ever containerized cargo export from India to Bangladesh using Inland Waterways has reached its destination Pangaon International Container Terminal, Dhaka on 12th July 2020. The barge “MV Pruthvi” carrying 45 TEUs (about 1,250 MT) of sponge iron was flagged off on 30th June 2020 from Haldia Docks for its maiden voyage from Haldia to Dhaka on Indo Bangladesh Protocol Route (IBPR).

Endangered Wolves’ Species Found in Telengana

Telangana State, it appears, is attracting more and more rare bird species and other wildlife to its forests. Wildlife photographer Kyatham Santhosh Kumar reported the spotting of Indian Gray Wolves, an endangered species, on the banks of river Godavari in Nizamabad district on Saturday, just a day before Forest Range Officer Satla Venugopal spotted the rare Rufous-Bellied Eagle in Kagaznagar forest division.

Indian Researchers Develop ‘Hyperelastic Model’ to Understand Brain Injuries

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras researchers developed an analysis-driven ‘hyperelastic’ model in calculating the stress and strain experienced by the brain due to blunt force injury and lesion (tumour) growth. The new model will help neurosurgeons and researchers to understand how the damage due to injuries in the brain progresses with time and aid them in devising strategies in treating the injured brain.

DPIIT to Soon Approach Cabinet for 74 pc FDI Through Auto Route in Defence

The DPIIT would soon approach the Union Cabinet to seek approval for relaxing norms to allow up to 74 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in defence manufacturing under the automatic route, with a view to attract overseas players in the sector, sources said. They said the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has discussed the matter with the defence ministry.
