Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Package – Progress So Far

Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi on May 12, 2020 announced the Special economic and comprehensive package of Rs 20 lakh crore (US$ 283.73 billion) – equivalent to 10 per cent of India’s GDP – to fight COVID-19 pandemic in India. He gave a clarion call for Aatma Nirbhar Bharat or Self-Reliant India Movement. He also outlined five pillars of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat – Economy, Infrastructure, System, Vibrant Demography and Demand.

Google Plans to Invest ₹75,000 Crore in India to Boost Digital Economy

Technology giant Google has announced that it plans to invest over ₹75,000 crore($10 billion) in India over a period of 5-7 years. Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai made the announcement today at ‘Google for India’ virtual event. The Google’s investment in India will be made through equity investments and tie-ups, marking its biggest commitment to a growth market.

India to Challenge China’s Foray in South America; To Explore Defence Export Opportunities

In a challenge to China’s forays in South America, India is exploring the sale of various military platforms to the region. Diplomatic sources in the Indian missions in the region have confirmed to the Financial Express Online “Post COVID-19, there are opportunities to export defence equipment in the South American Region. Several private players and DPSUs are showing interest in the region. ”

Three Terrorists Killed in J-K’s Sopore Encounter

Three terrorists have been gunned down in an encounter with security forces at Rebban in Sopore on Sunday, police said.
As per the police, incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site and search operation underway.
“Two more unidentified terrorists killed in Sopore encounter. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition recovered; search operation underway,” Kashmir Zone Police said.
