Fourth Scorpene Submarine Likely to be Inducted by Year End

The 4th Scorpene conventional diesel-electric submarine Vela is expected to be commissioned into the Navy by year end while Vagsheer, 6th and last Scorpene submarine which is under construction, is expected to be launched into water by year end, according to a defence source.

Vela was launched into water in May 2019 and is undergoing advanced stages of sea trials while Vagsheer is in advanced stages of outfitting.

Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the 11th Edition of India Chem 2021 in New Delhi with the theme “India: Global Manufacturing hub for chemicals and petrochemicals”. He stated that the Indian chemicals and petrochemicals industry is growing to new heights, and informed that an investment of Rs 8 lakh crore is anticipated in the sector by 2025.

India Adds 9.7 GW of Power Generation Capacity this Fiscal Till Feb 28

India added 9.7 gigawatt (GW) of power generation capacity in FY21 (until February 28, 2021), Parliament was notified on Tuesday. Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister Mr. R K Singh stated in a written reply to Rajya Sabha that India added 9.7 GW of power generation capacity between April 2020 and February 2021, including 3.8 GW of conventional energy and 5.9 GW from renewable sources.

The objective of the Stand-Up India Scheme is to facilitate loans from Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) of value between Rs. 10 lakh (US$ 13.78 thousand) and Rs. 1 crore (US$ 137.79 thousand) to at least one Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) borrower and one woman borrower per bank branch for setting up a greenfield enterprise in manufacturing, services or trading sector.
