Another 6,700-Km Roads to Come Up Along LAC

Besides the ongoing project to construct 3,323-km roads along the boundary with China, the Ministry of Defence is working on additional 104 roads (around 6,700 km) along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

New Collaboration to Launch India-UK Dual Doctoral Programme

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and The University of Manchester announced the launch of a dual award PhD programme. This will serve to consolidate and build on existing research collaborations across a number of thematic areas including environmental geochemistry, biomaterials and Industry 4.0. Students will be jointly recruited and spend time in both Manchester and Kharagpur, benefiting from the expertise, facilities and infrastructure of the two globally renowned institutions, said a statement from IIT Kharagpur.

Made-In-India Stealth Fighter Jets For Indian Air Force

In a move that boosts modernization of Indian Air Force (IAF) and makes it ready for future air combat, the Modi government may approve indigenous fifth-generation fighter programme, the advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA).

The design and development of first prototypes set to cost around Rs 15,000 crore and the stealth fighter could be put into production in the next seven to eight years.

Fourth Scorpene Submarine Likely to be Inducted by Year End

The 4th Scorpene conventional diesel-electric submarine Vela is expected to be commissioned into the Navy by year end while Vagsheer, 6th and last Scorpene submarine which is under construction, is expected to be launched into water by year end, according to a defence source.

Vela was launched into water in May 2019 and is undergoing advanced stages of sea trials while Vagsheer is in advanced stages of outfitting.
