A team of scientists have discovered India’s first bat species with disk-shaped sticky feet in Meghalaya. With this find, the number of bat species in India increases to 130, and in Meghalaya, to 66.

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed SpO2 (Blood Oxygen Saturation) supplemental Oxygen Delivery System for soldiers posted at extreme high-altitude areas. Developed by Defence Bio-Engineering & Electro Medical Laboratory (DEBEL), Bengaluru of DRDO, the system delivers supplemental oxygen based on the SpO2 levels and prevents the person from sinking in to a state of Hypoxia, which is fatal in most cases, if sets in. This automatic system can also prove to be a boon during the current Covid-19 situation.
For the First Time, Farmers of Punjab have started receiving payments directly into their bank accounts against sale of their Rabi crops. In last one week about Rs 202.69 crore has already transferred directly into Punjab farmers’ account.
The squadron will operate three state-of-the-art ALH Mk III, a multirole helicopter with Shakti engine manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Mk III version of the ALH has an all glass cockpit and will be used for Search and Rescue, Special Operations and Coastal Surveillance. 16 aircraft are under procurement and the aircraft are being delivered in a phased manner to the Indian Navy.
Nearly 3,300 women entrepreneurs were identified during the mapping of these regions, who were divided into three categories: manufacturing, retail, and service delivery. A total of 1,235 women entrepreneurs were chosen for the study and interviewed.
“The recovery is one of the biggest achievements as there was not a single casualty in the translocation. The current rhino population in Manas is 48 in the core area of 500 square kilometer of the park and there has been no case of poaching as well in the past four and half years. Before 2016, 10 rhinos were poached,” Manas Tiger Reserve field director Amal Sarmah told TOI.

The Indian Army officials said four members of its mobile training team (IA-MTT) conducted counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations training for 200 soldiers of the Nigerian Army”s infantry and special forces. They said this training was conducted between January 22 and April 18 at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI).
