Landmark Decision Taken by Government of India in Medical Education

Under the visionary guidance of the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has taken a historic and a landmark decision for providing 27% reservation for OBCs and 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in the All-India Quota (AIQ) Scheme for undergraduate and postgraduate medical / dental courses (MBBS / MD / MS / Diploma / BDS / MDS) from the current academic year 2021-22 onwards.

India to Acquire 30 US-Built MQ-9 Reaper Drones from United States

With an objective to enhance the offensive capabilities of the Indian forces, the government will be acquiring 10 US-built MQ-9 Reaper or Predator B armed drones each for the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, may take the final call next week about this deal worth $3 billion, a source in the government said.

Molecular Sensor on Serotonin Receptor to Detect Cholesterol

Cells communicate with each other via receptor proteins expressed on the cell membranes. Many drugs target these receptor proteins to alter cell’s functioning and physiology. However, the latest study from Prof Amitabha Chattopadhyay’s lab at CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) makes a case for accounting for the lipid environment that surrounds the receptor proteins, while designing drugs acting on the latter.

36TH Edition of India – Indonesia Coordinated Patrol

Indian Naval Ship (INS) Saryu, an indigenously built Offshore Patrol Vessel undertook coordinated patrol (CORPAT) with Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Bung Tomo from 30 to 31 July 2021. The 36th edition of CORPAT between India and Indonesia will also witness participation of Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both nations. The exercise, being conducted as a ‘non-contact, at sea only’ exercise in view of COVID-19 pandemic, highlights the high degree of mutual trust and confidence, synergy and cooperation between the two friendly navies.

22.7 Lakh Loans Amounting to ₹ 2,243 Crore Have Been Disbursed to Street Vendors Under SVANIDHI Scheme

The Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014 is implemented by respective States/ Union Territories (UTs) by framing their respective Rules, Scheme, Bye-laws and Plan for Street Vending. So far, Rules under the Act have been notified by all the States/ UTs. Scheme has been notified by all the States/ UTs except Lakshadweep and Ladakh. Meghalaya has its own Street Vendors Act, 2014.

India’s 14 Tiger Reserves get Global CA/TS Recognition for Good Tiger Conservation

The event also showcased, the 14 Tiger Reserves in India which received the accreditation of the Global Conservation Assured|Tiger Standards (CA|TS). The 14 tiger reserves which have been accredited are Manas, Kaziranga and Orang in Assam, Satpura, Kanha and Panna in Madhya Pradesh, Pench in Maharashtra, Valmiki Tiger Reserve in Bihar, Dudhwa in Uttar Pradesh,Sunderbans in West Bengal, Parambikulam in Kerala, Bandipur Tiger Reserve of Karnataka and Mudumalai and Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu.
