Gurugram-based Chakr Innovation is addressing this problem through an Indian-developed retrofit approach. Its flagship product, Chakr Shield, is fitted to the exhaust system of an existing diesel generator and is designed to reduce harmful emissions without requiring the operator to discard or replace the generator.

The species was first noticed in Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in January 1995, but its identity remained uncertain for more than a decade.
