DRDO Conducts Flight Demonstration of Controlled Aerial Delivery System

The CADS-500 is used for precise delivery of payload upto 500 kgs at predetermined location by making use of manoeuvrable capabilities of Ram Air Parachute (RAP). It uses Global Positioning System for the coordinates, altitude and heading sensors for the heading information during its flight. The CADS, with its onboard electronics unit, autonomously steers its flight path using waypoint navigation towards target location by operating controls. 

INS Shardul Brings MV Kavaratti Safely To Kochi

A fire had broken onboard MV Kavaratti (Lakshadweep Development Corporation Limited Run Ship) in the starboard engine room on 30 Nov 21, which was subsequently extinguished by the crew. However, because of the damage caused by the fire, the ship could not start her engines and had anchored off Androth island on 30 Nov 21 awaiting towing assistance for repairs. 

Government Starts Process to Identify Next CDS, Gen Naravane Heads COSC

Following the death of General Bipin Rawat, the country’s first Chief of Defence Staff, in a helicopter crash on December 8, Army chief General M M Naravane has taken over some of the responsibilities of the CDS as Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC). The committee, which includes the chiefs of the Army, Navy and the Air Force, is the main body to decide military issues.

India’s Rice Exports Rose by Over 33% to 11.79 MT in First Seven Months of Current FY, Likely to Surpass Last FY’s Record Over 17MT

India’s rice exports in FY22 is likely to exceed the record of 17.72 million tonne (MT) achieved in FY21 on the back of a 33% YoY jump in exports to 11.79 MT between April-October 2021. In terms of value realization, India’s rice exports increased 38% YoY to US$ 8,815 million in FY21. In Rupees terms, India’s rice exports increased by 44% YoY to Rs 65,298 crore in FY21.
