NEW DELHI: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday became first leader among five permanent members of the UN Security Council to telephone PM Narendra Modi to congratulate him on massive electoral victory and hoped to further strengthen special & privileged strategic partnership.
“Kindly accept heartfelt congratulations on the resounding victory of Bharatiya Janata Party in the general parliamentary elections. I am convinced that as the Prime Minister of the Republic of India you will further contribute to strengthening the centuries-old friendship between our peoples and enhancing comprehensive development of special and privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India,” Putin wrote in his congratulatory message to Modi.
“I would like to reiterate my readiness to continue our fruitful personal contacts and joint work to consolidate the entire gamut of bilateral ties and constructive engagement in international affairs. With all my heart, I wish you well-being and new success in the name of prosperity of friendly India and stronger cooperation between Russia and India,” the message read.
Few weeks back Putin had awarded Russia’s highest state honour ‘Order of St Andrew the Apostle’ to Modi for promoting bilateral special and privileged strategic partnership. The two leaders share excellent personal chemistry.
